Summer Finale
Happy Monday y’all! Did you miss me?
It’s been a while since I’ve posted on the blog and for that I apologize. The move and the new job have been keeping me very busy and on top of that I wasn’t feeling well for a bit. I think I was just exhausted from burning the candle at both ends and just needed a break. But I’m back just in time for one last summer post…yay!
One of my favorite styling techniques is layering. It’s a great way to add color and texture to neutral outfits in my opinion. I opt for lighter fabrics and softer colors in the summer to try to stay cool while looking chic at the office. If you remember my Navy: The Other Neutral post, you’ve seen me layer this blazer and denim jacket before. But this time, I decided to use a striped button-up shirt as the base instead of a plain white t-shirt. Striped shirts (tees and button-ups) are definitely wardrobe essentials. I tend to gravitate towards more subtle stripes for button-up shirts though as it looks more clean and crisp to me. But the most important thing you should look for in a button-up shirt is fit. Although you can’t really tell, this particular shirt is tapered in the torso for a more flattering silhouette. I have a shorter torso so anything that defines my waist is a go for me. And I opted to pop all three of the collars because, well, I can. And I think it looks fab.
Don’t you just love white jeans? I know I do. And even though summer is over and we’re well past Labor Day at this point, I will continue rocking my white jeans every chance I get. I’ll just make sure I don’t wear them on days where it’s rainy and muddy out and try my hardest not to spill tea on them at the office. Fingers crossed on that last one. If you’re not too keen on white jeans (before or after Labor Day), a medium wash blue jean or colored denim (red, mustard, hunter green, or oxblood) would be great with this look too.
One of my favorite accessory purchases this summer was my “love” necklace from Audaviv. It layers perfectly with my silver Tiffany heart necklace for everyday wear. Plus, we could all use a little self-love.
…and y’all have seen these shoes on the blog a million times already. They’re my favorite so I wear them. A lot.
Have a great start to your week!
xoxo, CCB
