Flare Season
Ah, flare jeans are back in style for fall this year and I’m so excited! Skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans have had their fun but now it’s all about flares. Make sure to grab pairs in your favorite dark and medium denim washes (loving this indigo pair from Forever 21) but also be bold and stock up on a great pair of black (and white) flares too! I personally like my flares to be high waisted to elongate my torso (and they make me look taller and thinner) but wear whatever rise makes you feel confident and sexy. I had these jeans altered because the legs were too long (even in heels) off the rack. I think it’s important – especially with flares – that you take the time to have them altered. If the hem is left dragging on the ground, it can look frumpy (not to mention they’ll get dirty).
I wore this particular outfit for casual Friday at the office. I chose a cropped flannel top – a steal at $12 – to enhance the torso length I created with the jeans and added a touch of glam with some bling and a little red lipstick. Other great options for tops that look great with flares are tunics, bell sleeve blouses, and button up shirts – especially a crisp white button up that’s nicely tucked into your flares. Your work tote and minimal accessories will keep you looking professional and polished at the office for day. Just swap out the tote for a chic clutch and add some bold accessories – a leather moto jacket for when temperatures drop and statement jewelry – for happy hour. As for makeup, a bold red lip and smoldering eye makeup will round out your look.
