Summer Staples
Hey y’all! I hope your week is off to a fantastic start! I was in bed all day yesterday with a sore throat and a mild fever (I hate when other people come into work sick because all they do is get the rest of us sick) so this post is a bit overdue. I’m feeling much better today so it’s back to the grind I go!
It’s finally summer (on the calendar and weather-wise) in NYC so I wanted to do a post on some of the pieces I’ll be living in all summer long! I love chambray tops all year long (see my blog posts here and here) but I especially love them for summer because they’re a chic alternative to a traditional button up blouse and they also make great layering shirts for when you need a cover-up but it’s too hot for a blazer or light jacket. I decided to throw on my chambray shirt in this look for added color and to give the outfit more depth. If I wanted to make the look more casual, I’d throw on my white sneakers or espadrilles and tie the shirt around my waist.
Aren’t these joggers amazing? I found them in H&M a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for some cropped flares. I’m drawn to anything olive green but what made me buy them was the distressed look they have. They look heavy but they’re super light and comfortable. I got a size smaller than my normal jean size and they fit perfectly. They set me back about 40 dollars but I’ve been wearing them constantly since I bought them so it was money well spent. I plan to wear them with a crisp white blouse and my Loeil slingbacks for brunch this weekend for a casual chic look…so excited!
And making its blog debut is my Mansur Gavriel bucket bag! If you follow me on Instagram, you may recall that I bought this beauty as my blogiversary present about a month ago and I’ve been carrying her around ever since. I’m so glad that I bought her for summer! She goes with everything and holds a lot more than you think. I’ve worn her with everything from jeans and a t-shirt to maxi dresses and I love it! I’ve also been carrying her to work lately since my Cuyana tote bag is in the shop for repairs.
There’s just something about joggers and pointed-toe pumps that works. And since I kept my look relatively neutral, I decided to add a pop of leopard to spice things up. Plus, I jump on the chance to wear these beauties any chance I get! White pumps or orange pumps would also look very chic with this look too so I’ll definitely be repeating this outfit all season.
I’m so excited that summer is here and I can’t wait to share with you all more of my summer staples as the season goes on. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go for my morning run. 6 weeks and 4 days out!!
Have a great day!
xoxo, CCB
