Happy Wednesday loves!
How’s your week been so far? Mine has been alright. Yesterday was a doozy but I got through it. My birthday was last week (I can’t believe I’m 32) and I had an amazing day. I got my hair done by my fab hairstylist and had an incredible dinner at Skool in San Francisco with my honey. Side note: get the squid spaghettina if you decide to check them out. I already want to have it again. So good. But I digress. Ever since I turned 30, I stopped wanting to have huge productions for my birthdays. I just want to be surrounded by the people I care about most and enjoy the day. And eat cake.
I didn’t ask for any gifts this year. But I usually don’t because I spoil myself year-round. This year, I was fortunate to receive my birthday present to myself a couple of weeks early: this beautiful Celine luggage bag. As you may know, I usually buy my handbags pre-loved. It’s just difficult for me to spend that much on one item. With Trendlee, I was able to make monthly payments until the bag was paid in full. I personally like this method because it makes me commit to buying it because I put a down payment on it. It’s like, “okay, we’re doing this. We’re buying this bag.” And I can’t blow the money on something else (cough, cough shoes). So, I naturally had to style an outfit with my new boo for the blog so she could make her debut in grand fashion. TADA!
Not gonna lie, to be the mini size this bag is HUGE! It’s so big that I was able to fit my Dionysus comfortably inside for a blog shoot and still have room. But to be as big as she is, she’s surprisingly lightweight. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten the micro size but that’s okay. I just have to get used to the size. My Givenchy Nightingale was the biggest bag I owned until I got this one and that bag is big too. But that bag is sooooooo heavy my goodness. Every bag has pros and cons but overall I’m happy with my purchase. And isn’t her little scarf cute too? I thought I’d glam her up a bit for her first day out.
With some of my blog outfits, I know EXACTLY how I want to style them from head to toe immediately. This outfit was one of them. This navy blazer was the one wardrobe staple that I needed and didn’t know I did until after I bought it. Although it’s navy, I wear it a lot. Black is really hot to wear in summer (I still do it anyway though) so navy is a great alternative. One of my other favorite ways to style it is with multiple layers. I wear a basic tee as my base layer, my chambray shirt as the second layer, and the blazer as the final layer. I pop the collar on both the blazer and chambray shirt and roll the cuffs of the chambray shirt over the blazer cuff. Add your favorite pair of jeans (red, lighter wash denim, and white are my top picks but you could even do pink if you’re feeling extra preppy) and you’re all set!
This t-shirt was a sale find at J.Crew. I loved it from the moment I saw it but didn’t want to pay full price for it. So I waited and waited for it to go on sale. It finally did and I swooped up my size that same day. I’ve worn it on previous occasions with my denim jacket and white jeans. I’ve also layered it over my white maxi dress and it looks like a top and a maxi skirt. It’s a great way to transition your summer maxis into fall and winter as well.
These jeans have been on the blog before in a previous post. I’m sad to report that the suede patches are starting to separate from the jeans and I may have to get rid of them soon. Sigh.
Like I stated earlier, I knew how I wanted to style this look from the beginning. And that included wearing white shoes with this look (much to Mama CCB’s chagrin). And if you’re reading this, hi mom, love you. Anyways, my Nicholas Kirkwood loafers would have been just fine with this look but I wanted to go all out. And I can’t pass up an opportunity to wear heels on the blog because I live in flats these days. They’re a fab shoe at a great price point (under $50) and I definitely wear them a lot. Until Christian Louboutin makes a So Kate pump in white leather again, these will do. But please make some soon because I desperately want a pair. Thanks!
xoxo, CCB
