Haute Herringbone
I’m back y’all! Did you miss me? A LOT has happened during my time off. I started my new job, hired a new photographer (welcome, Ricky, to the CCB Family), and bought lots of shoes. Well, not lots. More like 4-5 pairs. Anyways, I originally took my hiatus because of my day job. But it actually ended up serving a dual purpose. The break also gave me the chance to reset. To be honest with you, creating content for CCB Diaries was starting to feel more like a job than a hobby. I LOVE creating content for the blog. Styling outfits (my favorite part), scheduling shoots, editing photos, and writing posts is really fun for me but I was starting to dread it and all of the other “blogger obligations”. I needed to get re-inspired and remember why I started CCB Diaries in the first place. And now I’m back and, with Ricky’s help, better than ever!
Fall has officially arrived in NYC and I couldn’t be happier. One of my favorite things about living on the east coast is the distinct seasons. I have always been a big fan of coats but when I was living in California I didn’t get to wear them much. I guess I was preparing for a move out east every time I bought a wool coat and didn’t even realize it. I’m so smart.
This coat is one of my favorite wool coats that isn’t black. I bought it on sale at H&M two years ago even though it was “technically” a size too small. I really wanted it but it was the largest size they had and I couldn’t button the top 3 buttons because of my – ahem – chest. But it was such a steal that I couldn’t pass it up so I bought it anyway. I mean, how often do you find a herringbone wool coat for 50 dollars? Um, hardly ever. And I don’t have to button it….right?? One of my favorite colors to wear with this coat is oxblood. I put together an outfit pre-CCB Diaries with a cream tunic blouse, oxblood skinnies, and my nude Louboutin pumps and it was a hit. Other colors I’d suggest: hunter green, red, and, if you’re feeling extra bold, fuschia.
This sweater dress is new to my closet. I purchased it about a week ago and I love it. And it has pockets…yay! I plan on wearing it all fall and winter long with my over-the-knee boots and leather jackets. In all honesty, it’s not super warm but then again I’m always cold so maybe I should leave that to your judgment. The best part though? It’s on sale for 41 dollars (originally 73 dollars). Get it, gurl!
Accessorizing the Herringbone
I always like to add a little “pop” to my outfits and usually that’s in the form of jewelry. This cocktail ring is so fun! I find the best costume jewelry at Forever 21 of all places. It’s a fun and inexpensive way to spice things up. It kinda got lost in the shuffle of all of my other baubles but she’s definitely a beauty. And can we talk about these Schutz ankle boots? They’re definitely a show stopper…and comfortable! I didn’t plan on buying shoes that day but I was in the neighborhood since I was waiting for the Mr. to get off work and needed to kill some time. I almost walked out empty-handed but these cuties caught my eye right near the door. They come in black too but I was really drawn towards the blush color. I think it really brings out the shoe’s detail. And the final touch…
…a smile! The best accessory anyone can wear!
Have a great start to your week!
xoxo, CCB

It’s great to see you back, Amber and you look stunning!
I love everything about this outfit – that herringbone coat is gorgeous and such a great bargain! (I can never do coats up anyway – I thought that they were meant to be left open!!)

Sweetie, I’m so glad you’re back, but while reading the first part of your post I get myself a reminder. I’ve been on uh “vacation” in London for three days and hence haven’t been active on social media and it feels like I’ve got TONS to do that I HAVE to do and so forth. The truth is, I don’t HAVE to do anything. This is my hobby and it should be fun. Oh and the reason I wrote “vacation” is because all I did was networking for my blog so, haha… you hear me!
Regarding your style… It’s flawless gurl! I totally love it and you’re a star when it comes to fashion! 🙂
