Boyfriend Jeans and Buffalo Plaid
Happy Hump Day, lovelies!
The spring weather is in full effect in NYC this week and I couldn’t be happier! And with that, my desire to wear white jeans every day has grown. If I had more pairs, I would probably wear white jeans every day this week. But I don’t – at least not yet. *rubbing hands together* In Monday’s blog post, I was rocking white skinny jeans. Today, I’m wearing one of my other favorite styles (flares are my favorite) – boyfriend jeans!
This pair in particular is really fun because of the giant holes in the knees. I will admit that I hesitated to buy these because of the ginormous holes at first. It’s not usually something that I’m fond of but since these holes are the ONLY distressed part of this pair, I decided to purchase them. I like distressed jeans but only to a certain extent. When they’re ripped and shredded to the point where it looks like the legs are literally hanging on by a thread, that’s team too much for me. But if you love your distressed denim to the point where they’re destroyed, rock them and own your look. Do you boo.
The thing that I love most about boyfriend jeans is that they are extremely versatile. They can be dressed up or down with the right accessories and accompaniments. For example, I could swap out my pumps for a pair of white Adidas sneakers and throw on a fitted baseball cap or beanie for a completely laid back look. Or get rid of the buffalo plaid shirt for a blazer with my graphic tee to dress the jeans up a bit if I had to run to a quick meeting on the go. And because boyfriend jeans are meant to fit on the loose side, they’re the perfect jeans to wear to brunch when you eat just a little bit too much. Or is that just me? Back me up, ladies.
This t-shirt is one of my absolute favorites. And even though I love black, I actually don’t own a lot of black tees. Weird right? I purchased this tee and one other tshirt last year from Shop Two Songs (that’s right, Aimee and Dani Song’s clothing line). Their collection is amazing. I love this tee because it’s fitted yet a little relaxed and slouchy (if that even makes sense). Also, it has a rounded hem at the bottom which is perfect for that cool half tuck look if you should decide to tuck in your shirt for another time. But the main reason why I bought it is because of the empowering message on the shirt, “Selfmade”. I worked very hard to get where I am today and have in turn been blessed beyond measure. I am self-made. Shout out to all of my bosses and boss babes hustling hard day in and day out! When I was putting this look together, I felt like something was missing. The outfit needed that one element that would complete the look. Tie a shirt around my waist – yaaaas! Also, the weather in NYC has been cray lately (gorgeous during the day but with occasional chilly winds) so layers are a must. I did end up needing to wear the buffalo plaid shirt later on when it got chilly.
Boyfriend Accessories
I could have gone in a couple of different directions with my shoe choice. My leopard pumps (aka my road dogs) would have been great with this look or even my Chanel espadrilles from my Casual Style: Off Duty Edition post could work. But I wanted to be a bit bold and have some fun. That’s what fashion is all about! Insert white pumps. Like I said last week, I’ve found these shoes to be surprisingly versatile. I’ve been wearing them quite a bit this week since the weather has gotten better and they seem to go with everything. I even wore them with my black blazer, striped shirt, and black ankle jeans for a Parisian chic look to the office the other day. It was a hit! Looks like I’ll have to add a pair of white Manolos to my shoe must have list! And you know the story behind the mirrored aviators. I keep checking the site that I bought them from and they’re still sold out. If push comes to shove, I’ll try to find another site to purchase them from and link it OR if you want the real deals, the Dior “Technologic” sunnies are their designer equivalent.
Have a great rest of your week!
xoxo, CCB
