Sweater Obsession
The temperature is finally starting to drop a little in NYC so I’m finally able to break out my chunky knit sweaters…yay! And to all of my California followers, you’ll get there in due time. I LOVE sweaters, especially ones that have detail (you all know I live for details because they make an outfit). As soon as I saw this H&M sweater, I knew I had to get it. It’s so versatile. The cream color is great because you can wear it with any color denim…even white (yes, I said white). The somewhat oversized look also allows you to either do an interesting tuck when worn solo or layer it with a button up shirt of your choosing underneath (chambray would be really fun). So, stock up on those sweaters during sale season…I know I will be!
Can we talk about these ripped skinnies for a second?? Best. Jeans. Ever. I’m really picky about inseams since I’m only 5’2″ and I don’t always like to have to pay and wait for my jeans to be shortened. But not only are the fit and quality of these jeans amazing, so is the price tag. DSTLD intentionally only sells their designer jeans online to avoid retail markup. These fabulous jeans are only $85!! You can thank me later.
I’ll admit that I can be a bit of a jean snob. If you spent all that money on those designer jeans, why not spend a little extra to make sure they’re perfect, right? You wouldn’t want your hems dragging on the ground, fraying your jeans every time you wear them or tripping all over them because they’re too long. A tailor is your best friend when it comes to your jeans. If your jeans are too long “off the rack”, ask a friend if they know a great tailor or take them to your dry cleaner (if you trust them to do your alterations). Also, department stores like Nordstrom have an in-house alterations team that will fit your jeans while you try them on. All you have to do is pay for the alterations fee when you purchase the jeans and you can tell them when you need them by – how awesome is that! I had a pair altered in two hours once. And don’t forget to bring a pair of heels along with you so that you’ll know what the jeans will look like tailored when you rock them with your favorite stilettos (they can grab you a “try on” pair in the fitting room too if needed at the department store).
Accessories
A lot of you asked about my shoes on Instagram (seriously, you should follow me if you aren’t already) since I usually post behind the scenes photos on there before I post outfits on the blog. These beauties are made by Kurt Geiger. They’re dyed pony hair instead of printed fabric which in my opinion is much better for animal print shoes. Fabric animal print shoes look cheap to me (again, this is just my opinion). If you can’t afford a designer pair like these, brands like Steve Madden and Sam Edelman (and sometimes H&M and Forever 21) make fabulous dyed pony hair animal print shoes at great price points.
I kept my makeup relatively simple since it was 2 in the afternoon and frankly I didn’t really want to bother with a full face beat. I had a ton of errands to run that day so I didn’t want to have to deal with constantly checking to see if I needed to blot my face or apply more powder. I just curled my eyelashes, put on some of my favorite Dior mascara, and applied my everyday red lipstick (Jeanne by NARS) to look somewhat together. A great pair of sunglasses always helps you look like a million bucks too even when you don’t always feel like it so my Celines never leave my side. I really should wear my other 3 pairs of sunglasses more though since they cost me enough.

Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Opera.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I
figured I’d post to let you know. The style and design look
great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Many thanks

Hi there!
It is a browser compatibility issue. Cocoabutterdiaries.com is optimized for desktop, mobile, and tablet use as well. We suggest accessing the site in a different browser and seeing if that works. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
